A non-profit organization registered in Germany and Kenya, the ZEITZ foundation was founded by Jochen Zeitz in 2008. The Foundation creates and supports inclusive, holistic conservation projects that improve livelihoods, foster intercultural dialogue, and achieve long-term positive impact and sustainability.
The ZEITZ foundation's "4C" philosophy balances Conservation, Community, Culture, and Commerce to benefit land, wildlife, and rural communities. The Zeitz foundation has supported award-winning schools, the first female ranger academy in East Africa, ecosystem restoration through large-scale reforestation, cultural preservation through ancestral beading, sustainable water management, and world-class wildlife conservation efforts, such as the establishment of a rhino sanctuary that will eventually be the largest in the world! It is hoped that rhinos and other endangered species will have a safe long-term habitat and migratory corridors in the Sanctuary.
